How to get to Bansko

Apart from everything that Bansko offers to tourists, its location is very easily reachable. This is mainly because the resort is placed close to Sofia and people who arrive at the Bulgarian capital's airport just need to do a couple of things to get to Bansko. Also, there are a bunch of arrivals every day from Western Europe. You can book a ticket from the websites of airline companies like WizzAir, RyanAir, Lufthansa, etc.

There are two options, but it is recommendable and more comfortable to use a bus from Sofia to Bansko. The bus station is located not very far away from the airport. You can either take the subway or use a taxi. If you decide to use the services of a taxi cab it will cost you from 10-13 lv (6-7 euros) to reach the central bus station of Sofia. A single ticket for the subway is 1.60 leva and the only inconvenience is that you need to switch from one line to the other, but here is a useful information - there is a station at the Sofia Airport and is easy to spot it when you arrive. After you catch one of the trains (they come in 10 minute period) you should ride it until it gets to Serdika station. Then you have to switch to line 2 and get off at a station called "Central Railway Station". Sofia's railway and bus stations are next to each other, so it is impossible to get lost. During the week there are buses from Sofia to Bansko per 2 hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Another way of getting to Bansko is by train, but the ride duration is almost 5 hours, so it is not very pleasant. Still, if you choose this option, you should follow the same instructions to reach the railway station as these for the bus station.
